Then save and close, now you have the max number of players set to 8 in coop, this method was tested by myself before the last update, it should work fine after it, report back with any issues if you face them.ĮDIT :- Just tested this on my local server using "Play online -> local server" and it's working fine, 5 players were able to join at once. You've now installed the required plugins to increase your player count, all you need is to specify the amount using commands, go to your /Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/cfg folder and open "listenserver.cfg" with notepad if you are hosting a local server, if you are hosting a dedicated server open "server.cfg" instead, and add the following commands :.

Then download L4DToolz from here, extract the two folders "l4dtoolz" and "metamod" to your /Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons folder, merge when asked. Now you can head over to the Left12Dead plugin page and click on Get Plugin, and place the l4d_players.smx inside /Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/sourcemod/plugins folder. Now put the metamod.vdf file you created before on the website inside your /Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons folder, now you've installed Sourcemod and Metamod on your server. Now open your metamod.zip folder, open addons and extract "metamod" to /Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons, make sure to merge the folders not replace them when asked, do not extract the metamod.vdf inside this. Now open the sourcemod.zip folder, open addons and extract "metamod" and "sourcemod" to /Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons folder, then open go back in your sourcemod.zip folder, open cfg folder and extract sourcemod in your /Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/cfg folder There are many plugins that could do the job, a simple one is called "Left12Dead" and will require "L4DToolz" for it to work.ġ- Download the latest version of Sourcemod from here (1.10.0 at the time of this post) Ģ- Download the latest version of Metamod from here (1.10.7 at the time of this post) ģ- Download the metamod.vdf file from here, from the drop down list choose Left 4 Dead 2 then click on Generate metamod.vdf. To extend the max number of players on your local or dedicated server you will need Sourcemod, Metamod and a plugin that can extend the max players.
